Willis-Cartwright Elementary School

Joe Cartwright, son of Mr. Cartwright, long-time principal of Theodore Willis Elementary School, provided this photo of the school. Many thanks to Joe! (On the occasion of Mr. Cartwright's retirement, the school was renamed Willis-Cartwright Elementary School.)

I remember my third grade classroom (Miss Pascal's class) was in a temporary building (like a mobile home) located outside the right-hand side of the school, when looking at the school from the front. For fourth grade (Mrs. Hudson's class), my classroom was in the left-hand side, on the back of the building.

My name is Dawn Lee and I also attended Theodore Willis. My family got stationed at Carswell in 1976 and I attended 2nd grade at George Washington Carver Elementary 76-77, 3rd grade Theodore Willis 77-78, 4th North Hi Mount Magnet School 78-79 and 5th grade at Theodore Willis. I also went to the middle school, but unfortunately, I don't remember the name as we PCS'd out that year to Plattsburgh, NY. The teacher that stuck out in my mind to this day is Ms. Foote. She was a rough teacher but she always encouraged me as an artist. Don't know why I looked this up today, but it brought a lot of memories back today. Thank you.
